The underlying reason and causes for autism spectrum disorder are the same as any other neurotoxic disorder. An autistic child expresses different symptoms from other neurotoxic disorders due to the underdeveloped social and verbal parts of the brain. This can lead to language delays and the inability to acclimate to others within a social setting.
At the cellular level, Dr. Martin Pall has discovered new and intriguing research. His new research suggests that the biochemistry of neurotoxic individuals is the same when examined at the cellular level.
Inflammation and Oxidative Stress
There is an increase in inflammation and oxidative stress, due to high levels of NO2 (nitric oxide). Nitric oxide produces the free radicals superoxide and peroxynitrite that have devastating and damaging effects on cells. This toxicity is a prime cause of the cruel cycle of inflammation and its corresponding oxidative stress. This cycle occurs in various organ cells inside of the human body. Why some cells and not others? Perhaps it is the explanation for the multiple symptoms displayed in both autistic children and adults.
Toxic encephalitis is inflammation of the brain that is caused by a toxin. Many autistic children suffer from toxic encephalitis. In order to treat this disease, Dr. Pall states that it is important to down-regulate the oxidative stress cycle in the brain cells by removing the cause. The same is seen in adult patients with toxicities such as lead, mercury, and various chemicals. The toxin must be eliminated to reduce cellular inflammation.
When working with any neurotoxic patient, it is extremely important to raise GSH (growth stimulating hormone). This is especially true in children suffering from autism. As an individual ages and is exposed to more toxins, GSH begins to decrease, leading to increased oxidative stress. In children with autism, there have been studies that have shown that these children have diminished GSH counts when balanced against healthy children of the same age. Brain cells are particularly found to succumb to oxidative stress. Further research has supported this by uncovering that autistic children have an increased ratio of oxidized glutathione than to the decreased GSH.
There are certain pathogens to consider when working with patients who may be suffering from toxicity. These pathogens include Candida and multiple others, which may aggravate symptoms. When symptoms are continually aggravated, it makes detox extremely challenging. During treatment, antifungals are implemented slowly in order to treat Candida pathogens.
Along with antifungal treatments, important fatty acids (omega 3 and omega 6’s) are added to the diet at a 4:1 ratio. Omega 3’sa nd 6’s are excellent for brain and cell health. Eventually, Vitamin B is introduced in order to begin down-regulating the NO/ONOO cycle. This step of treatment must also be completed at a slow pace.

There are different tests used based on the evaluation of the doctor and the patient’s condition. The autism test from Laboratoire Philippe Auguste in Paris is one of the most accurate porphyrin tests around the world. This autism panel tests for heavy metals, cell inflammation, gluten sensitivity, oxidative stress in the RNA/DNA, and other sensitivities.
On rare occasions, a urine challenge test is performed through Doctors Data. Because a good portion of mercury levels are found in the brains of children, these levels will not be displayed accurately in a urine challenge. If the mother has show to possess higher levels, then there is a higher chance of testing the child. If a child is found to be notably sensitive, it is preferred to not do both of the aforementioned tests.
